This project was completed at MacDill Air Force Base – U.S. Army Reserve Center following hurricane-related roof damage. Portions of the existing roof system had been partially blown off during the storm, raising concerns about potential water intrusion into the underlying insulation and roof assembly. Our team performed a comprehensive impedance roof moisture survey to determine whether moisture had migrated beneath the remaining roof system. The non-destructive assessment allowed us to accurately identify moisture-affected areas without disturbing intact sections of the roof.Based on the survey findings, the roofing contractor was able to remove and replace only the compromised insulation boards before reinstalling a new roof system. The new roofing was then properly tied into the existing roof, restoring the roof’s integrity while minimizing unnecessary tear-off and repair costs. This targeted approach ensured that the repaired roof system was installed over a dry, stable substrate and helped extend the overall service life of the roof following hurricane damage.
